A New Home for Meditation Sans Frontières — and the Heart Behind Tea & Zen

A New Home for Meditation Sans Frontières — and the Heart Behind Tea & Zen

Dear Friends,

Today, I'd like to share something rather special with you. Something that has been close to my heart for many years, and which has recently taken another important step towards becoming the vision I have long held for it.

Some of you may already be familiar with Meditation Sans Frontières, although I suspect many of you have never heard of it.

Meditation Sans Frontières — Meditation Without Borders — is a nonprofit institute I founded in 2016, born out of a lifetime of spiritual exploration, contemplation, suffering, healing, and, above all, the discovery of love and presence as the very foundations of our existence.

At its heart is a simple understanding: that the capacity for love, compassion, stillness and healing belongs to every human being. These are not qualities reserved for a particular religious tradition, spiritual path, or philosophy. Nor are they something we must earn or become worthy of. They are already present within us, even when the circumstances of our lives have made them terribly difficult to recognise.

The institute exists to explore, nurture and share this understanding through meditation, contemplative inquiry, restorative practices, and the wisdom that emerges from our own lived experience.

Much of this work has grown out of my personal journey, including decades spent exploring the relationship between suffering and healing, the human nervous system, grief, trauma, and the extraordinary capacity of the human heart to rediscover its own wholeness.

But Meditation Sans Frontières is not intended to be about me. It is about creating a home for a body of work, a place where those seeking greater intimacy with life, with themselves and with one another may find companionship, understanding and practical ways of deepening their experience of being alive.

And now, at last, the institute has a beautiful new home on the internet.

I've recently completed the development of its new website, something of a mothership for the work of Meditation Sans Frontières. It brings together the institute's vision, its underlying philosophy, and the various pathways through which that vision can be explored and experienced.

I'd be delighted if you would visit, have a wander around, and discover what we've been creating. meditationsansfrontieres.com

And where does Tea & Zen fit into all of this?

Well, that's the lovely part.

Tea & Zen is the publishing arm of Meditation Sans Frontières.

It's where the institute finds its everyday voice.

Through Tea & Zen, I share my writing, reflections, meditations, podcasts, and the occasional ramble through the mysteries and contradictions of being human. It is a living, evolving expression of the same understanding that lies at the heart of the institute.

If Meditation Sans Frontières is the home, Tea & Zen is one of the ways we open its doors to the world.

Nothing changes in our relationship here. I'll continue writing and sharing with you as I always have. But I wanted you to know that Tea & Zen belongs to something larger, a vision that has been quietly unfolding for many years.

I also wanted to thank you.

Whether you've been reading my work for years or have only recently joined us, your presence matters to me. Writing about love, presence and the human condition is one thing. Sharing those explorations with others, knowing that somewhere they may touch another human heart, is quite another.

As I grow older, I find myself less interested in accumulating knowledge or arriving at grand spiritual conclusions, and increasingly interested in the simple, profound experience of being present with life as it is. With its beauty and its sorrow, its tenderness and its uncertainty, and the love that somehow continues to reveal itself through it all.

That is the spirit in which Meditation Sans Frontières was founded. And it is the spirit in which Tea & Zen continues.

I hope you'll take a little time to explore our new home. There is much more to come, but for today, I simply wanted to open the doors and welcome you in.

With love and gratitude,

Nigel
