Gently Comes The Night

A lullaby for the quiet hours, when the world grows still and night gathers gently around us. A reminder that even in sleep, we are held — precious, loved, and never beyond the reach of love.

Gently comes the night,
Softly falls the light,
and the day lays down its burdens
beneath the gathering stars.”

Close your eyes, beloved,
There is nothing you must do.
The stars are keeping watch above,
And love is holding you.

Sleep now, little heart,
Sleep beneath the sky.
You are precious, you are cherished,
More than words can tell you why.

Even while you’re dreaming,
Even far away,
Love will never lose its hold
Or leave you where you lay.

Gently comes the night,
Tender comes the dark,
Like a great and loving silence
Gathered softly round the heart.

Nothing need be carried.
Nothing need be known.
For even in our deepest sleep,
We are never quite alone.

We are held within a kindness
Older than the stars above.
Held through every breath we’re given,
Held within the arms of love.

So sleep now, precious one.
Let the whole world disappear.
There is nothing you must become,
There is nothing here to fear.

Gently comes the night.
Gently comes the dawn.
And through the dark, and through the light,
Love keeps holding on.

Sleep, beloved. Sleep.
Let everything be still.

You are precious.
You are loved.

And even in your dreaming,
You are held.

May the work offered here serve peace, serve healing, serve remembrance, and serve the quiet dignity of being alive. May this sanctuary belong not to one person alone, but to the field of life itself.

And may all who encounter it feel, even for a moment, that nothing is missing and they are not alone.
