It has become clear to me that much of what we call suffering is not only pain itself, but a loss of ground.

When we suffer, something in us becomes unseated. We are no longer resting in ourselves. The body tightens, the breath shortens, the mind begins to circle. There is a subtle but profound sense of falling—of not being held by anything stable or true.

In this way, suffering is not simply about what is happening to us. It is about the absence of a felt ground within us that can receive what is happening.

And so, what we often call a longing for love is, in truth, something deeper.

It is a longing to return to a state of grounded resonance—to that place within us where love is not something we seek, but something that is already here, already holding us.

This kind of love is not merely emotional. It is not dependent on circumstance, nor does it come and go. It is experienced as a kind of inner stability, a quiet coherence, a presence that does not collapse under the weight of experience.

When we are in resonance with this ground, even difficulty can be held. Even grief can move without overwhelming us. We are no longer falling through our experience—we are being held within it.

When we lose that resonance, however, everything can feel unstable. The same circumstances that could once be met with presence now feel unmanageable, because the ground beneath them is no longer felt.

This is why healing is not primarily about fixing what is wrong.

Healing is a return.

A return to the underlying field of presence that has never actually left us, even when we have lost contact with it.

In this way, healing is the restoration of grounded resonance. It is the quiet reawakening of the knowing that, even here, even now, we are held. And from this place, something begins to soften.

The breath deepens. The body settles. The mind grows still.

Not because the world has changed, but because we are no longer separate from the ground that receives it.

All suffering, in some way, is a loss of ground. And all healing is a return to resonance with what has always been holding us, all along.

May the work offered here serve peace, serve healing, serve remembrance, and serve the quiet dignity of being alive. May this sanctuary belong not to one person alone, but to the field of life itself.

And may all who encounter it feel, even for a moment, that nothing is missing and they are not alone.
