Lament for Norma
Today we remember Norma with gratitude, tenderness, and love. Though she has passed from our sight, she remains held in the Heart from which we all come.
Today, the world has become quieter.
A voice that once answered,
a hand that once reached,
a heart that once carried both joy and sorrow
has fallen into a silence deeper than words.
We stand for a moment at the edge of mystery,
where love remains,
but the one we love can no longer be held.
There is an ache that no explanation can soothe.
There is a longing that belongs only to love.
For we do not grieve deeply because death is powerful.
We grieve deeply because love is.
So today we do not rush to consolation.
We do not hurry past our tears.
We let them fall as a sacred offering,
for grief is simply love
continuing its journey
when it can no longer reach through touch.
May the One who has always carried Norma
carry her now
into a peace beyond fear,
beyond memory,
beyond all that has ever wounded the human heart.
May every burden be laid down.
May every sorrow be gathered into mercy.
May every fragment be made whole in Love.
And for those who remain,
whose hearts now feel the empty chair,
the silent room,
the absence where a presence once lived—
may gentleness find them.
May they discover,
even through tears,
that love has not ended.
For what is born of Love
cannot be taken by death.
It changes form.
It slips beyond our sight.
It becomes as near as breath,
as quiet as dawn,
as faithful as the light that returns each morning.
Farewell, dear Norma.
May you rest in the boundless Heart
from which you came,
and to which,
in truth,
you have always belonged.
And may those who loved you
find comfort in remembering
that nothing real is ever lost,
and that Love,
at last,
has brought you home.
