Practices From The Path
Ancient contemplative practices and modern approaches to healing—including meditation, breath-work, vagal toning, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed awareness, somatic healing, recovery principles, and compassionate self-inquiry—all explored in the laboratory of lived experience.
From time to time, people ask about the practices I mention in my writing and whether they are available in some way through Tea & Zen.
The answer is yes. Most of these practices were not learned from books or courses, but emerged through my own suffering, healing, recovery, and spiritual journey over many years. Along the way, I became a student not only of spirituality and recovery, but also of trauma, the nervous system, emotional healing, breath, mindfulness, and the relationship between mind, body, and spirit.
The approaches I draw from include contemplative meditation, mindfulness, emotional sobriety, nervous system regulation, breath-work, vagal toning practices, trauma-informed awareness, somatic and body-based approaches to healing, compassionate self-inquiry, recovery principles, grief work, emotional processing, and the cultivation of presence. Some of these are ancient practices that have been with humanity for thousands of years. Others arise from newer understandings in neuroscience, trauma research, psychophysiology, and the growing recognition that our emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual lives are deeply interconnected.
Over the years, I have become my own laboratory, exploring what genuinely helps reduce suffering, cultivate resilience, and restore a sense of wholeness. Some of the practices I share are now considered to be at the forefront of trauma healing and nervous system regulation. Others are timeless contemplative practices that have guided seekers for centuries. In my experience, healing is rarely found in any one method. Rather, it emerges through learning how to listen deeply to ourselves with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
If something I write about speaks to you, or if you are facing a particular challenge in your own life, please feel free to contact me. While I certainly do not have all the answers, I am always happy to share the practices, perspectives, and insights that have helped me and many others over the years. Tea & Zen has never been about teaching from a pedestal. It is simply one traveler sharing what he has learned along the way with fellow travelers.
Sometimes a brief conversation, a simple practice, or a different way of looking at things can make all the difference. If I can be of service, please reach out.

May the work offered here serve peace, serve healing, serve remembrance, and serve the quiet dignity of being alive. May this sanctuary belong not to one person alone, but to the field of life itself.
And may all who encounter it feel, even for a moment, that nothing is missing and they are not alone.
